up Black in America. This nonfiction book
highlights strategies to overcome
life's challenges, including but not
limited to racism and poverty, in an
effort to enjoy the successes hard work
brings.
From Oakland to LA and back to the Bay, this compilation of true stories utilizes music and history to highlight the life experiences of one light-skinned Black woman, born in America. In addition to telling the author's story, Redbone Diaries highlights Oakland history, Black history, and much more!
The chapters in this book are referred to as episodes. Most of the episodes and subtitles are named after songs that reflect specific moments in the author's life. The message presented in each song provides an auditory connection to the true stories being presented in Redbone Diaries: The Soundtrack of My Life.
